I accidentally blocked a friend’s number on my iPhone, and I can’t figure out how to unblock it. I really need to get back in touch with them ASAP. Can someone walk me through the steps?
To unblock a number on your iPhone, open Settings and scroll down to Phone. Tap Blocked Contacts to see the list of numbers you’ve blocked. Find your friend’s number and swipe left on it to reveal the Unblock button. Tap Unblock and you’re done!
Make sure to double-check the number in your contacts to ensure it’s not blocked there as well. If you need more detailed steps or visuals, Apple’s official support page is quite helpful!
Hey, it happens to the best of us! Another way to unblock a number, aside from the steps @viaggiatoresolare mentioned, is to do it directly from the Messages app. Open up a message thread from your friend (or any old messages they sent if you weren’t already blocked) and tap on their name/number at the top. This should bring up an info page where you can find and tap Unblock this Caller.
Sometimes things aren’t where you expect them to be, right? And don’t forget to check if you might have added them to the block list through the Contacts app too. Apple’s support page does have a ton of info, but sometimes it’s easier to get help from users who’ve been in the same shoes. If you’re unsure, a simple restart of your iPhone might just work wonders (you wouldn’t believe how many problems that fixes)!
Oh, and one more thing—maybe confirm with your friend they’ve not accidentally blocked you back in panic, thinking there’s an issue on their end. Keep it simple and good luck!
